Hello and welcome. This is an article that is GREATLY needed. No less than I think it is. I began wearing makeup around age of 14 and whenever I began, it was actually the WRONG shade for my skin. So! I am trying to speak out for those Beautiful, Brown-Skinned Black Women which have as hard a period finding make-up when i do. So, let me give you a little background on me.
Firstly, Black is beautiful, and also the darker the berry the sweeter the juice! With that being said, at 14 I used to be just a little blackberry with out a clue. Initially when i first started wearing make-up it absolutely was just lipstick and it also started out being my mom’s Fashion Fair. My mother who seems to be light-skinned and contains a daughter who may be dark-skinned. Naturally her lipstick did NOT match whatsoever. I had been even referred to as a dark-skinned Ronald McDonald by a previous ex-boyfriend!
So, In my opinion that us brown-skinned and dark-skinned women need some extra help because it is harder for people like us to locate make-up that matches in drugstores, or makeup for dark skin that may be affordable. Plus Cosmo and Glamour and all of them always be discussing great makeup for spring, but uh, hello would you forget black girls like make-up for spring too? So, I feel your pain. I am a self-appointed makeup aficionado, and would want to offer my experiences along with some items that are FABO and never a lot fabo. So… without further ado, let’s get going!
JUST AN FYI: These are all make-ups which i experienced to use through testing therefore i am sharing from EXPERIENCE!
FACE: I struggle to find the best foundation, and full-coverage makeup which is affordable so here are several wonderful finds which i have found which can be both.
1-Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Liquid Foundation- Spicy Brown
PROS- it really is great at matching skin tones which have yellow or red undertones, spreads easily and in case you simply need moderate coverage gives you a great value for your money. It is actually affordable ranging about 6-8 bucks, and you can discover it in most drugstores, and supermarkets.
CONS- If you have brown spots and blemishes, this will likely NOT provide you with the coverage you want! Not close, okay? In addition, it wears off quickly so you would need to reapply often. The bottle is upside-down with some spout, when you pour out too much, you cannot put it during the bottle and also in these periods of financial meltdown er’ little counts am I right ladies?!
Also, if you have problems matching the skin tone simply because you have BOTH yellow and red, or possibly blue and red undertones, this collection will not be for you personally as there is not much of a vast selection to choose from, so you might have to move ahead. Other shades that are ideal for brown-skinned to dark-skinned gals, plus some individuals fellas! Rich Mink, Sheer Espresso, and True Ebony.
2- Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation
PROS-It gives you more coverage than the Liquid Foundation. That’s it. That’s about all I can consider.
CONS-Unfortunately, it rubs off QUITE quickly. It is also tinted slightly differently than the liquid foundation so I found it harder to complement my skin tone. Also, in the event it was warm outside it wipes RIGHT off, and revealed every blemish in my face! LOL, it also wipes off in your clothes, stains both hands, the entire bit. It’s moderately priced as well, so in order to look nice for a date during the night, going somewhere cool, it’s a fast fix, however i wouldn’t wear it to the club, or perhaps a carnival, anywhere that will be warm, or sweaty. It can be purchased in the identical.
3- Black Opal True Color Liquid Foundation – Black Walnut
PROS-Awesome Coverage. There is quite a bit in the bottle therefore it will last you quite a while. It is really an upright standing bottle using a generous opening, if you pour out an excessive amount of, it won’t be too hard to have back into the bottle, so you can SAVE, SAVE, SAVE! I wear foundation daily, sometimes wash my face and re-apply if hanging out that night, and this bottle lasts me regarding a good two months roughly. You will see that it ranges from about 8-12 bucks… dependant upon your geographical area. It is therefore an excellent buy.
CONS- If you have combination to oily skin, WEAR POWDER, and keep it together with you! Through these upcoming warm to hot days, you might look really greasy in the face. However, if you retain Blotters with you, or powders, you need to be okay. Also, it could just be that MY complexion changes, therefore if that is the case disregard, nevertheless i find that as i visit buy a new one, the shade may well not match like the previous one, so be mindful of that.
Another con is that Black Opal Products could be a little harder to find in shops than other products which I mention. I don’t know if it’s that they’re not too popular, or what, but whenever I look I usually locate them in both Rite-Aid, or CVS. So, happy hunting. Other colors beneficial to brown-skinned girls… Carob, Suede Mocha, and Ebony Brown….. And also for you borderline caramel to brown-skin girls, Hazelnut!
4-Maybelline Pure Make-Up (Shine Free Foundation with H2O) – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- Very inexpensive, readily accessible. Situated in Most drugstores, supermarkets, Wal-Mart. Costs range about 5.99-10 bucks, based on your region. Full coverage, doesn’t clog your pores, spreads easily.
CONS-Upside down tube, so you should be exact about how precisely much is necessary for the face, cause if you use a lot of… it can get wasted. Limited colors for darker skin color. They merely have THREE shades for girls of OUR color. Dark 1- Tan, Dark 2- Caramel, and Dark 3-Cocoa. I actually have used the Cocoa. It can be way too dark for my skin-tone.
However, the Caramel Dark 2 is way too light. So, should you be pressed for the money and don’t have enough money to experiment, I wouldn’t waste my time for this product. They have FIVE shades dedicated to light, FOUR for medium and just three for people darkies??!!! Leave this device alone, until you eventually match EXACTLY. Have a great time evading the lady who attempts to watch you when you try to sample the merchandise from the store!
5- Black Radiance Color Perfect Oil Free Liquid Makeup- Cocoa Bean
PROS-Very affordable! VERY! Somewhat accessible. Costs about 5.99-10 bucks, and you will think it is in several Beauty Supply stores, CVS carries it. Spreads evenly, good coverage, get a lot for the buck. Also, comes in a jar with the open spout, so when you have a lot of, it is possible to use it in there. Gives you a nice matte finish.
CONS- Cocoa Bean will not match my skin tone! But I likewise have strange undertones taking place with my skin, so which can be why it really is so hard to fit. Whenever you apply this makeup it dries an alternative color, it’s crazy. There’s this… weird… applicator thingy, uncertain how to deal with it, nevertheless it just got within my way basically. Says it is useful for all kinds of skin, nevertheless i have very sensitive skin on my own face, and so i found out that within thirty minutes my face was suffocating and i also required to wash it well. Other shades to try out are Brownie and Mocha Honey.
6- L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Makeup- Nut Brown
PROS-Oh my goodness you guys this makeup was awesome! Spread really, really great! Matches wonderfully for any yellow undertone. Really does a brown-skinned girl justice. Light, so that your skin can breathe. Good coverage for ladies with blemishes. Pretty readily available, and I say that with hesitance, because 7 times away from 10 they may carry all Nevertheless the shades for brown-skinned. Um, I find them at Wal-Mart, Walgreens..and that’s basically it.
CONS- This product has SPF and that i am VERY allergic to sun block so it broke me out something terrible. Type of hard to find. It’s a little bit more expensive in comparison to the previous products mentioned. MMM, I might say about 10.99 and up. You just might discover it available for sale. Also, there is not a whole lot in the bottle, so use sparingly if you can. Other shades to try…. Soft Sable and Cocoa.
7- Revlon Color Stay Make-Up with Soft Flex – Mahogany
PROS- Pretty simple to find in many drugstores. Colors are good for brown-skinned girls. Sort of affordable. A little about the more expensive but about 9.99-12.99 with this product. The coverage is okay… Not the most effective, but if you are looking for light to moderate coverage this is a great product.
CONS- Now, I stumbled upon that Mahogany did not match my undertones that great. I understand…. Again with the undertones. It dried and made my skin look a bit grayish and chalky. There exists 58deyypky a real good selection to choose from for darker skin tones. Has SPF6, bad for me, but good for everyone who is not really allergic. Also, again, in the event you don’t have the undertone problem…. Other shades to try out… Cappuccino and Mocha.
And then finally but Definitely not least…
8- Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse – Cocoa (Dark 3)
PROS- OH MY GOSH…… loving this device!! (sing song voice) here is the current form I am using now! It def does precisely what the commercial says. It covers your pores, and provides you with a great finish! Maximum coverage! Need NO concealer, well… maybe somewhat, but I don’t use any. It is very affordable, between about 7-10 bucks. I came across it right at the Kroger food market, so it needs to be available at most drug stores. It possesses a nifty little nozzle that squirts out and it’s really convenient. It is additionally whipped feeling, and that i apply with my fingers.
It merely glides directly on, and begins covering my pores and brown spots, as well as its not very heavy, I don’t have to put on a bunch. The most notable also comes off, therefore if I over-squirt, I could put it right during the bottle. There’s lots within the bottle, so you don’t need to use a lot for coverage. I think I bought this bottle a month ago and I still have a bit more than half a bottle left. It’s great! I like it. Hopefully this can be the conclusion from the road to me, but usually it isn’t!
